League of Margherita
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO…
The League of Margherita was formed in the Robertsham Parish approx. 35 years ago. The name “MARGHERITA” comes from the mother of St John Bosco, the Patron of the Parish.
The purpose of the League is to help the poor and the needy. All the financial and material assistance we receive comes from the generous donations of the Robertsham and Booysens parishioners.
However due to the lockdowns and the pandemic which we are experiencing still todate our funds and savings are dwindling and rely solely via a few amazing donors which have continued to donate via EFT in our ABSA account. We also collect cash as per the collection boxes in the 2 churches but these are minimal.
We hope and pray that with the churches reopening funds will come in order to assist us and in turn help our needy.
We have a membership of 13 men and women. We have a Chairperson ,a Secretary and a Treasurer. All our decisions are taken in consultation .
Under normal circumstances we would hold a meeting on the 2nd Saturday of every month but at present this has been put on hold and we discuss matters via Whatsapp.
Collections for the League would have been taken on the 1st Sunday of every month.
At present we assist 21 beneficiary with an average amount of R 300 per month as well as Mary Help of Christians crèche via Sister Helen Harnett.
